⚠️ Please do not forward suspicious email messages. Either they will not be delivered (as they will be recognised as spam/phishing) and therefore they will not be reported. Or they could do further damage at the recipient end.

You can securely report Junk and Phishing emails from within Outlook. This is helpful for not only your own mailbox but also to protect your colleagues and entire organisation.

This process also ensures that your report is received, as forwarding a malicious email could mean that it isn't actually delivered to us for review.

Reporting an email in this way will do the following automatically: report this message to Microsoft, notify us, quarantine the message, and reduce the risk of attack by the same message and/or sender across your organisation.

ℹ️ This is available in Outlook desktop applications, Outlook mobile apps, and Outlook Web App (OWA). This is possible if your organisation has enabled this process.

Outlook desktop application

If you open a message in Outlook, you will find a new option to the far right of the toolbar, which is called Report Message. Please click this and choose an appropriate option – either Junk or Phishing.

Please note that you must be viewing the message itself to see this option, not looking at a mailbox view or list of messages.

Outlook on the web (Outlook Web App / OWA)

When viewing a message, please click the three horizontal at the far right of the head of the email, click Report Message and then choose an appropriate option.

Please note that you must be viewing the message itself to see this option, not looking at a mailbox view or list of messages.

Outlook mobile app (iOS / Android)

You can also report via the Outlook mobile app. You may need to install the Report button in order to do this, if it is not already present.

Please see the following instructions and video below for how to install the button and report a message:

 1. Open an email and click the three dots at the head of the email next to the date (not the three dots at the top near Bin/Archive).
