To unlock our best work & culture we have a Hybrid Working Pattern that on average achieves a 60:40 split of remote:office time.
Each week, you choose which three days you spend at our office (or across the month you can even out the average). On other days, you can work from home, or for up to 20 days a year, you can work anywhere in the world using our Work from Anywhere allowance.
We're passionate about giving ownership, responsibility and trust to everyone and want this pattern to be as flexible and autonomous as it can be for you, so even though it’s mandatory it is not policed, meaning we won’t be checking up on your office days. However, if we do spot you haven’t been to the office for a while you can expect a conversation about it.
This pattern does not apply to our Nationwide and non-UK team members who have their own pre-agreed hybrid working patterns in place.
Since 2020, we’ve worked hard to adapt and evolve our operations & culture to equip us for hybrid working. This has involved outlining a set of principles for how we make it work:
We have a balance of real-time & remote collaboration
Understanding that we need a combination of both to unlock our best work & culture
Our default way to communicate is async through record creation
Like writing or recording a video that can be easily referred back to
We use synchronous communication strategically
For collaborative work, nuanced conversations or personal & professional development
We create time to focus on deep work
By communicating async as default we unlock more time to deep work
We aim to centralise & make permanent all of our documentation

We have the right tools
