Overview

Reddit is a community-based platform where users consume text and video content around shared interests.

This exploratory UX case study identifies a usability friction in Reddit’s video experience related to play and pause button placement.

The study is informed by first-hand user experience and informal user discussion. The persona is fictional and created to represent a recurring user behavior pattern. This persona is a synthesized representation of users who consume Reddit video content after work in a low-effort, relaxed context.

Problem Statement :

1. Play and Pause button is on the lower left side.
2. This creates friction while playing and pause a video content.
3. This issue reduces video content consumption timing.
4. Making users to visit competitor's applications.

User persona :

Occupation - Farming

Traits :

a) He consumes videos on farming.

b) He is keen to farming.

c) He does scientific farming.

d) He loves learning new things about farming.

e) He has joined Reddit community of scientific farming.
