Getting Started with Shortcat

Welcome to the Shortcat public beta! There are a few things that you need to know before you get started. You can find this page by going into the Shortcat preferences (Cmd+, while Shortcat is activated, or launching Shortcat when it’s already running), then clicking the Help pane.

Shortcat is in beta. Bugs are to be expected, and it may crash.

TL;DR

It’s strongly recommended you read Usage to get the most out of Shortcat. Please read Compatibility before asking any questions about compatibility and Known Issues and Filing a bug before reporting bugs. Also be sure to check the Changelog for new features and changes!

1. Cmd+Shift+Space to activate
2. Enter a few letters of what you want to click. Examples:

• lt for Language & Text
• lang will also work
• sa for Show All
• It’s important to note that Shortcat will only search from the beginning of words.
• bar will not match Foobar, but will match FooBar, Foo Bar or Batman and Robin.
• When the query is over four letters, then it will start doing exact matches. commend will match Recommend
• If there is no text on the element, type . to show all elements.

1. NEW To select an element, hold Control and type in the shortcut highlighted on the field.

• The shortcuts are case insensitive; they are upper case for legibility.
