Hi everyone! I’m Colin, the incoming Managing Director of Development at QMIND.
The Development portfolio is focused on setting QMIND members up for success, through professional development programming, a strong network, and a hiring process that brings together the brightest AI talent at Queen's. This page will cover my vision for QMIND’s development portfolio for the 2026-2027 academic year, as well as introduce the first role I’m hiring for, the Director of Internal Affairs.

QMIND Development (2026–2027): Portfolio Vision
</aside>
Build a structured professional development program aimed at ensuring every member can finish the year with:
Build a mentorship network centered around a LinkedIn-based alumni marketplace where members can browse and reach out to QMIND alumni, senior members, as well as connections to industry and faculty based on where they want to go, whether that's a specific role, industry, academic path, or career goal. Rather than being assigned a specific mentor, members connect with whoever resonates with their goals, and mentors self-select into the network by posting what they're happy and confident speaking about. This isn't meant to replace the guidance members already get from their PMs, Directors, and MDs, but to give members a broader view of who is in the QMIND community and what they have to offer.
Alongside this, two dedicated Discord forum channels will support members through the application process directly. The first, #resource-bank, is a curated space where members who successfully landed internships or research positions can share their actual application materials, including resumes, cold emails, and cover letters that worked, giving current members access to proven materials from people who just went through the exact same process they're facing. The second, #career-help, is a forum where members can post their materials and request feedback from the broader community when preparing for a specific role or opportunity.
Ensure the DTM hiring process is thorough, transparent, and consistent, and that every incoming DTM is properly onboarded and set up for a great year from day one.

Director of Internal Affairs Role
</aside>
The Director of Internal Affairs involves working with the Managing Director of Development ****on every part of what Development does. By the end of the year, the Director of Internal Affairs will be one of the most connected people in the broader QMIND community, across members, alumni, and industry.
