ProviderRank — A Bittensor Subnet for Verifiable Provider Routing Intelligence

Ideathon Submission

Executive Summary

ProviderRank is a proposed Bittensor subnet where miners compete to produce verifiable routing intelligence for the same model across multiple provider endpoints, gateways, and routing layers, and validators independently replay and verify those signals.

The subnet's purpose is to solve a growing production problem for AI agents and multi-provider model users: the same model behaves very differently across providers, but routing decisions are still made with stale benchmarks, anecdotes, or hand-written heuristics.

ProviderRank turns this unstable provider landscape into a continuously refreshed intelligence market:

This makes ProviderRank not a dashboard product, but a decentralized routing-intelligence market aligned with Bittensor's miner-validator-emission design.

What's in this proposal. This proposal is organized around six questions:

  1. Why does this problem matter now?
  2. What is the mined commodity?
  3. How do miners and validators interact?
  4. How are emissions tied to useful, verifiable signals?
  5. Why is this economically meaningful outside the subnet itself?
