Introduction:
This data-jobs salary dashboard was created to help job seekers investigate salaries for their desired jobs and ensure they are being adequately compensated.
Dataset:
I got the dataset from Luke Barousse's Excel for data analysis course, which gave me a foundation in analyzing data using Excel.
This dataset contains the following:
- Job titles
- yearly and hourly salaries
- Job location
- Skills, etc
Excel skills used:
- Charts
- Formulas & Functions
- Data Validations
Excel Features: Utilized the bar chart feature and optimized the layout for clarity.
Design Choice: Horizontal bar charts for visual comparison of median salaries.
Data Organization: Sorted job titles by descending salaries for improved readability.
Insights Gained: Enables quick identification of salary trends.
Map Chart
Excel Features: Utilized the map chart feature to plot median salaries globally.
Design Choice: Color-coded map to visually differentiate salary levels across regions.
Data Representation: Plotted median salary for each country with available data.
Visual Enhancement: Improved readability and understanding of geographic salary trends.
Insights Gained: Enables quick grasp of global salaries and highlights high and low salary regions.
Data validation:
Data validation helps with implementing the filtered list as a data validation under Job Title, Country, and Type in the Data Tab
- User inputs are predefined, validated schedule types
- Incorrect or inconsistent entries are prevented
- Overall usability of the dashboard is enhanced.

🔍 Project Conclusion
This Salary Dashboard project strengthened my ability to transform raw data into actionable insights using Excel. By combining structured datasets, dynamic charts, and advanced formulas, I built an interactive dashboard that allows users to explore salary trends by job title, country, and work type with ease.
Through this project, I demonstrated how Excel can go beyond basic spreadsheets and serve as a powerful analytical and decision-support tool. The use of data validation improved usability, map and bar charts enhanced storytelling, and multi-criteria median calculations delivered meaningful, real-world insights.
Most importantly, this project reinforced a key principle of data analytics: 👉 clarity, accuracy, and usability matter as much as the analysis itself.
