PD Use of Force Dashboard.png

During my time as a Business Intelligence Analyst working for the city of Gilbert, AZ, I was commissioned to create a dynamic, public facing Power BI report detailing Use of Force incidents within the police department.

My analysis proved the following:

  1. Less than 1% of total calls for service result in a use of force.
  2. Most "uses of force" are weapon displays rather than physical contact.
  3. A majority of uses of force are towards people identifying as "white."

Here are the steps taken to complete this analysis:

  1. Ingesting police department data into Snowflake.
  2. Connecting the data to Power BI.
  3. Creating a date table.
  4. Cleaning categorical data to keep the final result simple.
  5. Creating several DAX columns and measures for the desired metrics.
  6. Administering the report within the Power BI Service.
