My design is the head of a bear. And to visualize how it looks in three dimension, I used blender to build a model.

My another design is the butt of the Donald Duck.

Finally, I decided to use the bear head as my design.

Step 1 - Plane and Glue

  1. Thickness Plane

Before using the thickness plane, I firstly used the long metal board to check whether the surface of the wood is curved inward or outward. We need to put the incurve side on the bottom so that the wood wouldn't wobble when we push it into the thickness planer.

Then I used the thickness planer to plane the large maple board to make the two sides flat and parallel to each other as well as smooth the surfaces.
