I love the no-code movement (a push in tech to make building workflows and logic as simple as pointing and clicking) as an enabler for more entrepreneurship and ideas and I want to see how far I can push it. On April 8, 2022: I woke up and set myself a goal to build a business in 1 day.
I built ProTranscode, a site that allows you to upload high-end video files and get back proxies.
We are still in the infancy of online video and more people will be creating video to communicate.
Increasingly we will see more of video post production moving to the cloud, such as transcoding video and creating proxies which is the process of taking high-resolution raw / original video files and converting to a lower-resolution version so you can edit with it easier (low-res versions are easier on CPU/memory). (At the end of the edit you would then reconnect back to the original high-res media.)
Creating proxies is boring. Most people rather not to do it. It is tedious and mundane. They value it as close to zero. BUT it is highly important.
Site works great! A user uploads their video and they get emailed a download link to the proxy.
I could not get the payment pieces to work in a day. So right now this is free. And thus it is not a business.
How I did it:
