Phase One is a free, open-data research tool for exploring clinical trial and FDA drug information. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.

Data We Collect

Phase One does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. Specifically:

• No account registration is required
• No name, email address, or contact information is collected
• No location data is collected or tracked
• No analytics or advertising SDKs are included

Bookmarks

Items you bookmark (trials or drugs) are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

AI Features

When you use the "Explain in plain English" feature, the publicly available trial or drug information displayed on screen is sent to our backend server to generate a plain-English summary using Google's Gemini API. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests. Requests are rate-limited to prevent abuse.

Third-Party Data Sources

Phase One fetches data in real time from the following public government APIs:

• ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. National Library of Medicine)
• OpenFDA Drug Labels API (U.S. Food & Drug Administration)

These services are operated by the U.S. government and have their own privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Phase One is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
