1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the AIChat-to-Notion Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles your information. Your privacy is critically important to us, and this policy is designed to be transparent about our practices.
2. Core Privacy Principle: Local Processing
The fundamental principle of our Extension is that all your data is processed and stored locally on your own computer. We do not have servers that collect, receive, or store your personal data, chat conversations, or generated articles.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly state that we do not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Your conversations with ChatGPT, Grok, or any other AI service.
- The articles generated by the Extension.
- Your Notion API keys or credentials.
- Any personal data from your browser or computer.
4. Information Handling and Storage
- Chat Data: The Extension only accesses the content of your chat conversations when you explicitly invoke it via the right-click "Save to Notion" menu. This data is processed entirely within your browser's memory to generate an article and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
- Generated Articles: The articles generated by the large language model (LLM) are temporarily displayed within the Extension's side panel and stored locally in your browser's storage (e.g., Chrome's
localStorage
or IndexedDB
) so you can view your history. This data remains exclusively on your device.
- Notion API Key: Your Notion API key is stored locally on your browser to authenticate and enable the sync functionality. It is sent directly from your browser to Notion's official API when you choose to save an article. We do not have access to it.
5. Third-Party Services
- OpenAI / xAI / Other LLM Providers: If you configure the Extension to use your own API key for a cloud-based LLM (like OpenAI's GPT-4), your chat data and prompt will be sent to that provider to generate the article. This interaction is governed by the privacy policy of the respective LLM provider. The Extension itself does not intercept or store this data.
- Notion: When you click "Save to Notion," the generated article and your API key are sent directly to Notion's servers via their official API. This data transfer is encrypted and subject to Notion's Privacy Policy.
6. Permissions Explanation
The Extension requests the following browser permissions:
