ReMarkly (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a local-first app designed to help you review and organize your reading highlights. This Privacy Policy explains what data ReMarkly processes, how it is used, and your choices.
1) Summary
- Private by default: Your highlights and library data are stored locally on your device.
- No account required: You can use ReMarkly without creating an account.
- No analytics: ReMarkly does not use third-party analytics and does not track you across apps or websites.
- Optional network requests: If you enable book cover fetching, ReMarkly may query public book databases using book title and author.
- Purchases: Subscriptions are handled by Apple In-App Purchase. ReMarkly uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status.
- Exports are user-initiated: Data leaves your device only when you choose to export or share.
2) Information stored on your device
ReMarkly stores the following locally (on-device):
- Imported highlights and notes (e.g., from “My Clippings.txt” or pasted text)
- Book metadata (title, author, and reading location/page when available)
- Review progress data (e.g., scheduling intervals, due dates, streak and progress)
- Favorites, “Learned” status, and tags
- App settings (including whether book cover fetching is enabled)
3) Optional network features
A) Book cover fetching (optional)
If you enable Fetch Book Covers, ReMarkly may send limited book metadata (such as title and author) to third-party services to retrieve cover images and basic book info.
