Meow Break is a browser extension that reminds you to take breaks from prolonged screen time by displaying animated cat overlays on web pages.

What we collect

Nothing. Meow Break does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.

What is stored locally

The extension stores the following on your device only, using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API:

• Your preferences: chosen cat breed, personality, language, work / break durations, harass interval, love-line frequency, strict mode toggle.
• A user-managed whitelist of websites where the timer should pause.
• Local statistics: total breaks taken, breaks today, day streak, treats fed, lies told, honest streak.

These values stay on your device (or sync between your own Chrome profiles if you have Chrome Sync enabled, which is governed by Google's own privacy policy). They never leave to any server we control.

Permissions explained

• storage, alarms: required to persist your preferences and run the break timer.
• tabs, scripting, host_permissions (all URLs): required to inject the cat overlay into web pages so the reminder can be visible no matter which site you're on. The extension reads tab URLs only to check whether the current page matches your whitelist — no URL or page content is transmitted off your device.

Third parties

None. No analytics, no ads, no remote API calls. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts inside the popup UI only; this is governed by Google's Fonts privacy policy.
