Margin (“the extension”) is designed to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain terms, what it does and does not do with your information.
Nothing. Margin does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. It has no account system, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking.
Everything you do with Margin — the text you highlight, the comments you write, and the brief you export — stays on your own device, inside your browser. The extension makes no network requests and sends nothing to any server, including ours. When you copy or download your annotations, that content goes only where you choose to paste or save it.
Margin only interacts with a web page after you click its toolbar icon, using Chrome’s activeTab permission. It does not run in the background, does not read pages you haven’t activated it on, and does not monitor your browsing history.
Margin loads no remote or hosted code. All of its functionality ships inside the extension package and runs locally.
Margin is a general-purpose tool that collects no data and is not directed at children.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if an optional feature in a future version involves data — this page will be updated and the date above revised. Any data-collecting feature would be clearly disclosed and optional.
