Privacy Policy — I Hate Small Talk
Last updated: April 15, 2026
I Hate Small Talk is a Chrome extension that suggests replies for workplace small talk. This policy explains what data the extension does and does not collect.
Nothing. No personal information, no message content, no browsing history, and no usage data is ever collected, stored on a server, or transmitted to us or any third party.
The extension reads the content of pages on Slack, Microsoft Teams (teams.microsoft.com and teams.live.com), Gmail, and Outlook solely to detect whether a message contains small-talk patterns. This detection runs entirely inside your browser. The text of your messages never leaves your device.
Your settings (such as pause preferences and whitelisted senders) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data stays on your device and is not accessible to us.
The extension periodically fetches a JSON file containing pre-written reply suggestions from a content delivery network. This file contains only text data — no executable code. No information about you or your messages is sent as part of this request.
We do not sell, share, or transmit any data to third parties.
This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
