The Wine Journal ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Account Information When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and username. This information is used to create and manage your account.

Wine Logs & Content We store the wine entries you create, including wine names, tasting notes, ratings, food pairings, occasions, and any photos you choose to attach. This content is stored securely and is only visible to you and friends you choose to connect with.

Photos If you photograph a wine bottle or capture a memory photo, that image is uploaded to secure cloud storage solely to display within your journal. We do not use your photos for any other purpose.

Taste Profile Your taste profile data (characteristic ratings across wine types) is stored to generate your personal profile and varietal recommendations. You control whether this profile is visible to other users.

Map & Location If you mark wine regions you have visited, we store the region name and coordinates. We do not collect your precise GPS location.

Usage Data We may collect basic usage information such as app crashes and performance data to improve the app. This data is anonymized and not linked to your identity.

Supabase We use Supabase (supabase.com) to store your account data, wine logs, and photos securely. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant. See their privacy policy at https://supabase.com/privacy

Anthropic (Claude AI) We use Anthropic's Claude AI to power bottle scanning, wine search, and taste profile recommendations. When you use these features, limited data (bottle images or taste scores) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. This data is not stored by Anthropic for training purposes. Apple If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email with us per Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy or as required by law.

Social features within the app allow you to share wine logs and your Taste Profile with friends you have connected with. You control what is shared through your privacy settings.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below.
