Chirp ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Chirp mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.
By using Chirp, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information. When you create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we collect your email address and name as provided by the authentication provider.
- Bird Identifications. When you use the App to identify birds, we collect the photos you submit and the resulting identification data.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and Usage Data. We collect your timezone, App usage patterns (such as scan counts and species counts), and basic device information necessary to operate the service.
- Local Storage. The App stores authentication tokens, cached bird data, and images locally on your device to improve performance and enable offline access.
Information From Third Parties
- Authentication Providers. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive limited profile information (email and name) from those services. We do not receive or store your password.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process bird identification requests
- Maintain your personal bird collection (Aviary)
- Display leaderboard rankings
- Provide daily featured content (Bird of the Day)
