This Privacy Policy describes how Nostalgia (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Nostalgia AI Conversational Journaling App (the “App”). By downloading, registering for, or otherwise using Nostalgia, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or interact with the App, we collect:

• Account & Profile Data:
  • Email address and hashed-password (for sign-up and login).
  • Name, birthdate, gender (onboarding fields; required).
  • Reason to join, AI tone preference, notification preferences (optional onboarding fields).
• User Content:
  • Audio recordings (your voice journals) sent to our servers for AI processing.
  • Uploaded photos (images you attach to entries).
  • Manual text entries (any text you type into the journal).
  • Generated transcripts & summaries (we generate these via OpenAI’s Whisper & Realtime APIs; see Section 3).

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data
  • Pages or screens you view, actions you take (e.g., start/stop recording, view past entries), timestamps, session length.
  • The App automatically assigns a unique user ID so that we can maintain your journal history across devices.
• Device & Crash Data
  • Device type, operating system version, App version, unique device identifier (anonymized), and crash logs.
  • This information is collected via Supabase’s built-in analytics (no separate third-party analytics SDK).

1.3 Third-Party Data Collection

• OpenAI APIs
  • When you record audio or request a conversation with the AI, raw audio data is transmitted to OpenAI’s Whisper (for transcription) and Realtime API (for speech-to-speech conversation).
  • OpenAI returns transcripts, summaries, and generated audio, which we store (see Section 3).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to operate and improve the App, as follows:

1. Account Management & Security
   • Create and authenticate your Nostalgia account (email/password).
   • Securely store your profile data (name, birthdate, gender).
   • Verify your identity on password resets or if suspicious activity is detected.
2. Core App Functionality
   • Enable AI-driven journaling:
     • Transmit raw audio to OpenAI so the AI can respond (“Realtime API”).
     • Send audio to Whisper for transcription; store transcripts to generate text summaries you can read later.
   • Persist your photos and manual text entries in your personal journal.
   • Personalize AI behavior: using stored summaries and transcripts, the AI “remembers” prior conversations to guide follow-up questions.
3. App Improvement & Diagnostics
   • Analyze usage patterns (via Supabase analytics) to identify and fix bugs, improve features, and measure feature usage.
   • Collect crash reports (device, OS version, stack trace) to detect and resolve technical issues.
4. Communications
   • Send you transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets).
   • If you opt in to notifications or marketing, we may send occasional announcements about major feature releases (you can disable marketing emails at any time).
