Personal Statement

Hey everyone! It’s Ben, and I just wanted to share my appreciation for Apollo & Artemis for your hard work and dedication towards robotics. I know I say this all the time, but seriously, this season could not have been done without you guys ❤️. I’m aware that AP & IB exams are approaching soon, and I’m sure all of you guys are stressed, burnt out, and ready to leave school (cough cough…senioritis). I wish I could do more than to nag at you guys and actually help everyone with your school life, but it’s extremely hard to do so when robotics comes in. My best advice for all of you—including seniors who may be suffering—is to realize that a task done by a single person is 50% of what a task done by a group of people might be. Our team possesses so many unique attributes that meaningfully contribute to our overall growth. Growing together means so much to me, and I’m hoping it does for you all as well. Without you guys, our team never could’ve reached its 100% potential, and I believe that we’ve hit prime state. Given that we have 3 more weeks left of robotics before our season fully ends, let’s unlock our fullest potential and go 110% as a team. Love you guys!

Background

Our premier event will span from April 16 to April 19, and we anticipate spending 4 days and 3 nights in Springfield, Massachusetts. However, we have many required obligations that come before the premier event.

Therefore, we must prepare right now to make sure we are ready to answer any questions the judges might have, and to make sense of what we say during our 3-minute, uninterrupted presentation.

And that is why I’m having all of you do this assignment; I believe that the ‘depth points’ method worked for us, and I also anticipate that reviewing the portfolio as a team will benefit us on top of what we’ve done so far.

Assignment

The assignment is relatively simple. Everyone must provide at least 4 sentences of written feedback for each page of the portfolio, including the front cover (sorry).

Your feedback can be virtually anything. As long as it’s meaningful, valuable, and useful, we’ll accept it.

So that is why I want all of you to lock in when doing this assignment. Please note that your time means so much to us, and it will be even more valuable when you perform your best during structured interviews and questioning. You’re doing this assignment so that we actually have some sort of potential of winning an award.

Due Date

The assignment is due Sunday, 3/29, at 11:59 PM. For your convenience, I’ve added a countdown to motivate you guys 😊.

Don’t be shy; do it ASAP!
