Once party is assembled, players will state in party chat the position that they will take.
Some players have preference to a specific position, which should be mentioned in the PF description. This will be denoted with the 〆 symbol to indicate that a position has been taken. (e.g. D1〆 → D1 taken)
The standard composition consist of one melee, one physical ranged, one caster, and one flexible DPS (normally a second melee/caster).
Macro Guides are integral in the JP Data Center as they are used to indicate what strategies that will be used for a particular content, using the above role notation to explain positions for mechanics in a visual way. Here is an example for M5S:
