Throughout your time in the Communication Department, you will likely need to utilize the podcast studio at some point to complete various pieces of coursework. Below, you will see several pictures highlighting key elements of the space or how the space should be left after your podcast is finished. Each photo has a caption explaining what the image is relaying.
It’s worth noting that the two doors on the far end of the podcast space are both used for storage and will not be accessible to students.

The layout in the photo above is how the Podcast Studio should be left when finished.

The carousel in the center of the table has all the cables needed to operate the board or utilize the television, in addition to a few pencils, highlighters, etc.

The desk is equipped with two pop-out outlets if you need to charge something during your podcast.

Each mic station is equipped with at least two ports. The microphone should always be plugged into the XLR. The 1/4” port adjacent to the XLR port is for your headphones to be plugged into.

When plugging in your headphones, you can insert your 1/4” plug into the port; there are no locks or buttons to press.

Below the tabletop of each mic station, there will be a potentiometer that allows each individual person to control the volume of their own headset. Note that how loudly you perceive yourself directly correlates to the volume of your headphones and does not necessarily mean you are speaking loud enough into the mic.

Adjacent to the mic and headphone ports of mic station number five is an HDMI port for the host to display reference content on the television during the podcast.

A small AV rack is to the left of mic station number one. It is important to note that the only things users need to touch on the rack are the orange and blue power toggle switches on the right-hand side. Each switch must be lit, as shown in the picture, for the podcast space to function appropriately.

Before recording, insert a full-size SD card into the back of the L-8 recorder, as shown above.

A detailed video depicting the operation of the audio board can be seen at the top of this page.

At the end of each session, users should unplug their headphones and coil the cable next to them. As depicted above.
