In this intermediate level Art & Design Practice course, Liberal Arts & Sciences learners researched play by conducting practical experiments to observe and test how playfulness can be mapped, stimulated and enhanced in public space, and under which conditions it can emerge and evolve. They also identified and visualized potential threats to a playful, learning and inclusive city.

Through community fieldwork and on site prototyping (= making models to test ideas) the group engaged in shared, experimental learning. In a five-week video assignment and a seven-week, self-directed “action-research” project leading up to the collective exhibition The Yellow House, each learner developed a hands-on understanding of how a playful, learning society could be seeded and nurtured.
