On Planet Big Tube lives a race of content creators, the Hodlies, who are enslaved by Big Tube through its minions: the Gatekeepers, the Censorship Bots, and the Lawyers. Everyday, Hodlies must create an episode of content in front of a live audience full of their peers if they want to be fed. How much food they are given depends on how much controversy they create and how upset they make their audience. The Gatekeepers tax them on their food. The rest of their work day they are forced to be the audience for other recordings. Once they're home, they must watch content for a certain amount of time per night under surveillance.
Our hero, Josh Hodly, is cast out by Big Tube and is taught the truth of his world by the Green Hodlies. His return to Big Tube sparks the creation of the first PELE energy, and leads to liberation of the purple Hodlies…
Planet Big Tube enslaves a race of content creators, the Hodlies, through its minions the Gatekeepers, the Censorship Bots, and the Lawyers. Its capital is “Big Tube City.”
Planet Big Tube wants total control of information and the intergalactic narrative. It has an insatiable appetite for content because it has multidimensional content contracts to fulfill. It actively works against freedom in all its forms at all times.
Almost all of the purple Hodlies in the pilot season consider the existence and true nature of their planet Big Tube a “conspiracy theory” and instead live in complacent harmony.
The Hodlies are a species of content creators who evolved to have different colors based on their creative conditions and environments.
Maybe they go by "he" or "she" but they are all the same. They are sexual but intercourse can only happen via their brain chemicals that process love.
Similar to how humans breathe, Hodlies harvest ideas from the pure existence of content (the Cosmic Content Consciousness), mold and shape it into something unique, and re-distribute it (the method of re-distribution depends on the color of the hodly).
Hodlies are also incredibly complex:
Hodlies are innately positive and unified as a species, but more than a bit naive because of their trusting natures.
As babies, Hodlies are pure, childlike innocents with unlimited creative power and pure hearts living in pure nirvana somewhere. They flow in and out of the cosmic content consciousness harvesting the love, innovation, and compassion found within and converting it into content. Their content brings joy into the PLVRS.
They also love money because it is so easy to acquire it while they play with content in the ethers. (Yes, p2p cross-metaversal micro-payments are natural and ubiquitious throughout the PLVRS.)
But once a certain epoch is hit in their young, pure lives, something happens and then they get "sorting hat"-ed into a color and zapped across the metaverse to that environment. They lose all memories of being baby hodlies.
The Hodlies are not always aware of the others' existence...
