Pickaxe relies on third-party APIs such as Hunter.io and Drop Contact to fetch emails and return them to the tool. While in many cases, emails are returned — there are occasions when you may see 'no email found' in the email column.

There are three possible reasons why:

  1. The provider doesn't have any data related to the domain name that is searched.
  2. The algorithm couldn't find a relevant result.
  3. The url in the domain name column is invalid
  4. The email address doesn't exist
  5. The full name of the person may be incorrect

1. The provider doesn't have any data related to the domain name that is searched.

Our email API providers such as Hunter use crawlers to gather data from public web pages.

In some cases, their crawlers cannot find any email addresses for a domain name. Usually, it means there isn't any data to be found on public web pages or that the crawler hasn't visited the relevant web pages recently.

2. The provider's algorithm couldn't find a relevant result.

In some cases, the provider may have data on the searched domain name but still fails to return a result.

It usually happens when the provider's best guesses are tested and proved invalid. In this case, the provider often prefers not to return an email address instead of another very unlikely guess.

3**. The url in the domain name column is invalid**

Another common reason why an email address cannot be found is that the URL in the domain name column is incorrectly resolved by the Pickaxe search tool. We recommend validating that the URL in the domain name column is accurate for the company domain before hitting 'Fetch Emails'.
