Uses of glucose in plants:

Starch in leaves

  1. Variegated leaves (have both green and white parts) ~ starch is only present in green parts because they have the chlorophyll to allow photosynthesis —> glucose produced —> converted to starch
  2. Leaves covered in tinfoil ~ starch is only present in exposed areas because access to light is needed for photosynthesis —> glucose produced —> converted to starch
