guys honestly im too braindead to write even somewhat eloquently about this right now. i dont think a happy death is that great by itself but i really like that it’s an unfinished/unpublished work because if you read this having already read camus’s more polished works (the stranger, the plague, etc) it will greatly enhance your understanding of them because you get a glimpse into camus’s thought process yay!!! the second half is a bit bland and kind of hard to follow but i think if you spend time with it and connect the points that camus is trying to make with, again, points he makes in his published work, you get a muchhhh fuller understanding (I think of this similarly to reading an author’s diaries after reading their novels/canonical works. for example, i think to truly appreciate the bell jar you have to read sylvia plath’s diaries because you get a better of plath’s influences and a more unfiltered version of her thoughts). also dont get mad at me for calling this a philosophical work!!!!!
I struggled (quite severely) with Tractatus because of how dense the logic is. It took me really long to finish reading, despite the book being less than 100 pages. I made a basic HTML version with indentations to make following the logic a bit easier (I don’t like that Wittgenstein only uses decimals after the main propositions…): Tractatus with Indentations
(There are some minor formatting errors due to the text extraction process; I’ll fix them when/if I re-read)
