If your laptop fails to start or wake up, you can try performing a hard reset. This can solve lots of minor problems with power and booting up.

  1. Turn off your laptop by pressing and holding the physical power button until the screen goes blank and the power light goes off.
  2. Disconnect everything from your laptop including additional monitors, the power cable, external devices such as mouse, keyboard, printer, USB drives, USB sticks, etc.
  3. Press and hold the physical power button again for 30 seconds.
  4. Don’t reconnect anything yet – try to turn your laptop on again as usual. If there’s no battery power or the battery isn’t working, connect the power cable and try again.
