Pawpaw Nursery under Elderberry Over-story, Summer 2024
White egret still here day after the storm. There were two, and they left a few days later, circling higher and higher as they went.
Eevee next to a new pond created when a black walnut tree was ripped from the bank.
Heron sculpture emerged from the sand.
Pawpaw field near the stream. The grass held the soil and collected more. We noticed this all along the valley. Areas with bare soil were scraped clean and areas with grass were filled.
The native rhododendron trees resemble the pawpaw except they don’t lose their leaves in winter. As the climate warms we expect more rhodos to die and that pawpaws will thrive.
Pawpaw seedling, 2 years old, from friends Will and Kat, planted in fresh mud washed in from the flood. These pawpaws will be good!
