Hi! I'm Paul Szoldra (pronounced ZOAL-druh), a national security editor, dad, husband, Marine Corps veteran, entrepreneur, and certified hater of military acronyms.
My career began as a Marine infantryman after 9/11, serving throughout the Pacific and Afghanistan and training new grunts in California. After the military, I served as a Correspondent and Military & Defense Editor at Business Insider, as Executive Editor of We Are The Mighty, and as Editor in Chief of Task & Purpose.
Most recently, I founded The Ruck, a weekly national security briefing. I am also the Founder and Editor of Duffel Blog, a satire newsletter read in the Pentagon and around the world.
My work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, MSNBC, CBS News, USA Today, ABC News, HuffPost, The Columbia Journalism Review, and many other venues. It has also been cited by the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, House Armed Services Committee, House Judiciary Committee, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and various books.
