Chapter 02: Geometry Hostages—Don't Let a "Soft Ruler" Fool Your Eyes

"In the court of dynamics, if the ruler is soft, any 'new physics' measured is nothing more than the scream of the measuring stick.”

In the scientific community, people often exhaust themselves arguing over which theory is "right." But the ACM auditor’s first realization is that before we debate the verdict, we must ask a more fundamental question: Is your ruler even straight?

1. Distance: The First Domino of the Physical World

Imagine you are looking at a photo of a distant building. If you assume it is 1 km away, you might see a modest cottage. But if someone tells you it is actually 10 km away, you instantly realize you are looking at a massive skyscraper.

In galactic dynamics, Distance is that first domino. How far a galaxy sits from us dictates its physical scale, its total mass, and ultimately, how much gravity it should exert.
