Born and pre-trained in Côte d’Ivoire, he moved to the Middle East at the age of 18, spending four years there before being spotted by European scouts and joining Sporting Charleroi in the summer of 2023. At the time, the Belgian club was fighting near the bottom of the league table. He gradually established himself and became a regular starter in his second season, which was fairly successful, registering 5 goals and 5 assists in 1,993 minutes (roughly 22 matches). This year, he is producing by far the best performances of his career, with 8 goals and 3 assists in the league in 1,738 minutes (around 19 matches).

Very small in stature, standing at just 1.65m, Parfait Guiagon is physically quite light and often struggles to withstand physical duels. However, his small build gives him short strides and a very low centre of gravity, which provide him with impressive speed, great agility, and sharp acceleration over just a few steps — including with the ball at his feet. Right-footed, he relies mainly on his stronger foot in most situations, though he is also capable of using his left, particularly in dribbling situations.

Guiagon’s main strength lies in his ability to beat opponents and his dribbling skills. Highly varied and well executed, the Ivorian alternates between feints, changes of direction, double touches, stepovers and other tricks to destabilise his direct opponent. He has a particular appetite for dribbling, sometimes pushing it to the extreme by attempting risky moves in inappropriate areas of the pitch. His ability to eliminate defenders is further enhanced by his clean first touches and close ball control, which allow him to keep the ball glued to his feet.Once past his marker, he can create danger through decent crosses and well-weighted passes into space, or by cutting inside from the left wing — and, more rarely, shooting from that position. He also wins a significant number of free kicks by drawing fouls from defenders.

In possession phases, the Ivorian is a very intelligent player. His movement is coherent and well-timed in relation to his teammates, and he shows a strong overall understanding of the game, particularly regarding teammates’ runs. He enjoys being found in depth on the left wing but also frequently drifts into central areas — either between the lines or, more surprisingly, into the penalty area to attack crosses. He has scored several goals in Belgium in such situations, often through clever deflections. The winger also contributes defensively, tracking back effectively to support his full-back and recovering a respectable number of balls.

Given his profile, he is capable of playing on the left wing and as an attacking midfielder, and he could likely operate on the right wing as well.

From a cognitive standpoint, despite his undeniable qualities when his team is in possession, he can struggle more when making decisions on the ball, sometimes showing slow decision-making. In addition, occasional lapses in concentration lead to technical inaccuracies in seemingly simple actions.

At 25 years old and coming off the best season of his career, the Ivorian was initially expected to become a free agent this summer but chose to extend his contract with his current club — a move that should not necessarily prevent a potential transfer. The opportunity to join Olympique Lyonnais would be appealing, even in a competitive or rotational role. An international for a few months now, the prospect of securing an important role within the national team ahead of the 2027 AFCON is also something to take into account when considering his decision.
