CONTEXT

In this project, I designed a POS system for restaurants and fast-food businesses. My main goal was to create an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. The system needed to be not only carefully structured and thoughtfully organized, but also visually appealing and comfortable to work with - supporting efficiency and a pleasant user experience.

RESEARCH

The first step was to define the core problem I aimed to solve with my design. Next, I reviewed user feedback and analyzed common pain points to understand what could be improved and where users might struggle. I explored existing products in the same domain, conducted a SWOT analysis and feature comparison, and applied Nielsen’s Usability Heuristics to identify key areas for enhancement and innovation.

WIREFRAMING

After completing the analysis, it was time to move into the sketching phase. To ensure a useful design with strong information architecture, I began by creating low-fidelity wireframes to map out the overall structure and define where each element should be placed. These wireframes incorporated insights from my research, pain-point analysis, and usability heuristics. This stage helped me focus on clarity, logical flow, and accessibility before moving on to visual details. It also allowed for early testing and quick adjustments, ensuring that the final layout would be both intuitive and efficient for user.

UI Kit / Design system

During the design stage, I created acustom UI kit and design system

tailored specifically for this POS project, rather than relying on pre-made systems like HID or Material Design. My goal was to build a consistent, intuitive, and visually balanced interface that matched the needs of restaurant staff while maintaining a distinctive brand identity. The design system includes reusable components, spacing rules, and interaction patterns that ensure a seamless and cohesive user experience across all screens. For typography, I chose clear, readable fonts that support quick information scanning — essential for fast paced environments like restaurants. The color palette is based on deep purple and dark tones , creating a calm and modern atmosphere that reduces eye strain during long shifts. Additional accent colors are used sparingly to draw attention to key actions or alerts while maintaining overall visual harmony within the dark theme.
