Our Story

In May 2017, Nathan Graber-Lipperman founded an online publication called Unplugg'd with a simple purpose: publishing longform stories on Gen Z culture and life, all while adhering to our values — context, depth, vulnerability, and creativity. The TL;DR — we wanted to create anti-clickbait for young people.

As we grew our team, we launched a podcast network, interviewed professional athletes alongside world-renowned entrepreneurs, and created a YouTube series called 'The Hot Takes Show.' Overall, in our first two years, we published over 200 stories and 180 podcasts; additionally, we saw 4M Google impressions, 500k page views, and 20k podcast listens.

In April 2019, we formed our backdrop entity Powder Blue Media, LLC, as we pitched for capital and participated in a startup accelerator program. That summer, we were recognized as an up-and-coming business while pitching for — and winning — over $18k.

A year later, we launched our second venture under the PBM umbrella called Powder Blue Consulting, where we capitalized on our experience and network creating Unplugg'd to offer a variety of services to B2B clients, including e-commerce solutions, content strategy, graphic design, and more. Between the two ventures, we were able to continue to grow, bringing in $17k in revenue in 2020.

While we've pivoted over the last four years, the underlying thread has remained the same: to prove that Gen Z — a diverse, complex cohort of creators, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers — has a seat at the table. We strive to build a community willing to inject the ideas and themes behind our stories and products into their day-to-day conversations and lives.

What We're Doing

Over the next several months, our goal is to build on the success of 2020 and continue to scale Unplugg'd. We're doing this by:

To scale effectively, we need to continue to organize our team efficiently, as well as adjusting our sprints to ensure we hit our long-term goals. That's where you come into play.
