Why now? Why Banff?

What's the value in joining our pilot?

  1. REPUTATION/BRAND EQUITY

Building on your business's reputation as a key player for sustainable practices in Banff. Joining now would allow your business to spearhead and pave the path for other businesses.

  2. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Decreasing your business's environmental footprint even more by reducing the number of takeaway containers sent to the landfill. Your business can help mitigate the increased use of disposables due to COVID-19!

  3. ECONOMIC SAVINGS

Savings from purchasing fewer disposable containers in the long run. If your business joins right now, we will be able to cover the majority of the costs associated with the program. This funding will not always be available.

  4. TIME/EFFORT SAVINGS

Right now, myself and a group of volunteers can take on a majority of the work required to successfully implement this program. I have spent the last 5 months doing research, communicating with the town and other stakeholders, creating materials, and onboarding volunteers. We also already have over 30 community volunteers who are registered and itching to get started.

What businesses would need to commit

  1. THE COST

Currently, we have funding set aside to use for this program. For this reason, are covering 60% of the costs of containers while supplies last. There is no minimum order, but we are limiting orders to 50 of each container or less depending on the size of each business.

  2. THE TIME

We will expect participating businesses to spend time giving feedback, as well as telling staff about this project and getting them to participate in a training session. The coordinating team and volunteers will take care of the actual training and facilitating container circulation.

  3. THE ENGAGEMENT

The point of this pilot is to test the viability of a reusable scheme in Banff and what impact it has. For this reason, we expect businesses to do their best to engage and collaborate with program coordinators and other businesses to track container usage and work towards program success.
