Our vision at Emerge is simple and very clear. We envision a nation brimming with creatives, artists, and authors actively combating oppression, tyranny, and anti-Blackness, armed with their minds and diverse tools and forms of transformation and reformation.
Our mission here at Emerge is to platform creators, artists, innovators, visionaries, authors, and writers with a space and channel to speak truth to power and help join the global fight for Black liberation. Every month, a chosen creator will lead all voices in pushing the boundaries of literature, art, and academia to bring about change.
Black liberation, Black power, Black spirituality, Black sexuality, social justice, and Black art are our core themes. Poems, songs, spoken word recordings, and original works of art created in pictures to tell a story are acceptable mediums for conveying these themes.
We strive to enlist new voices for each month so that everyone in our collective has a chance to be heard and seen. No contribution is too big or small, as we are all looking to work as one to liberate our people.
At Emerge, we have three distinct objectives.
