I organized a tech startup festival in Shanghai that attracted 12,000 people to attend, here are my learnings.
Wow, there are many moving parts. We had a lean team of 30 people (12 in the core team), separated in a few concentrations: the marketing, business development, speakers/program, startup/pitching, design/video, stage/logistics, and volunteer recruitment/training team.
Marketing team: responsible for attracting ticket sales by publishing WeChat articles.
Business development team: responsible for getting the money needed to pull this off with government support and booth sales.
Speakers/program team: responsible for attracting and organizing speakers and their logistics for what happens during the festival.
