Project Overview
This project involved comprehensive testing of the OpenEMR Patient Portal (Version 7.0.3) to ensure secure, functional, and user-friendly access for patients managing their healthcare information online. OpenEMR is an open-source electronic health records and medical practice management solution used by healthcare facilities worldwide.
Objective: Validate that patients can reliably access their medical records, communicate with providers, manage appointments, and update personal information through a secure web portal interface.
My Role: As the QA Analyst, I developed and executed a complete test plan covering functional testing, UI/UX validation, security checks, and cross-platform compatibility. I designed test cases for all patient-facing features, documented defects with detailed reproduction steps, and conducted regression testing to verify fixes.
Key Testing Areas:
Outcome: Delivered a comprehensive test report identifying critical functionality gaps, usability improvements, and security considerations—ensuring the portal met quality standards for patient use while maintaining HIPAA compliance requirements.
