Zoom is a platform that allows you to video call with others. It can be used for online classes, important meetings, or just talking with friends.
Download and sign in
Go to the Play Store and search for the ‘Zoom’ app and click ‘Install’.
Once you download it, it starts installing. Then you will have three options: Join Meeting, Sign Up, and Sign In.
You can join a meeting without setting up your account, but to host or schedule a meeting, you need an account. For the first time, you should sign up using your email address. A code will be sent to your email address. You should add the code and then your name, and create a strong password. Then click on Open.
Once you set up the account, you can simply sign in using your email address and password.
Click Sign In and enter your email address and password.
Organize and invite to a meeting
When you are signed in, you can see four options: New Meeting, Join, Schedule, and Share Screen.
If you want to immediately start a meeting, go to ‘New Meeting’ and click on ‘Start a Meeting’.
Then, at the bottom, you will see the ‘Participants’ option. Click on the Invite option at the bottom.
You can send the meeting link via Messages, Gmail, Outlook, or copy and paste the invite link.
Another way to organize a Zoom meeting is to click on the ‘Schedule’ option before your expected meeting time.
You will have the option to insert the meeting time, duration, and the contact information of invitees. It is safe to always ‘Enable Waiting Room’ just by clicking on this option. It allows you to control who joins the meeting.
Once you save it, you will get the meeting link, which you can copy and paste into the email of the attendees.
Then, when the meeting time comes, you can simply click on the ‘Meetings’ option, go to your scheduled meeting, and press ‘Start’ to begin the meeting.
Note: you should only share meeting links with intended participants.
You can end the meeting by going to the ‘End’ option on the upper right.
Joining a meeting
First, if you have the meeting link in your email or messages, you can join the meeting by clicking on the link.
However, if for some reason you only have the meeting ID, you also need to enter the passcode to join the meeting. You can adjust the sound (mute/unmute) and video (on/off) before joining the meeting. You can also make sure Zoom is using the correct input (your voice) and output (hearing others) devices. Some meetings might require the moderator to approve the request. However, for some, you will get directly into the meeting.

Sharing your screen
Zoom allows you to share your screen or presentation slides. You can click on the ‘Share’ button and open the file you want to share with the participants.
Microsoft Teams is a platform used for communication and collaboration. It has video call meeting capabilities similar to Zoom, but also provides a shared space to work on files together and store them in a shared team folder.
To start/organize a meeting, you need to go to the calendar and click on ‘New Meeting’. You can add a title and the attendee's email address. Or you can go to ‘Activity’ and ‘Schedule a Meeting’.
