In both Black Swan – The Awakening and The Black Cat – Aletheia, the faint, almost invisible lines carry an important meaning. These lines signify a kind of wave. They are not meant to suggest only that the message of the works spreads like a wave, but that everything we think, say, and do is transmitted as unseen waves to others and also reflected back into ourselves. For this reason, the delicate lines that represent these waves were expressed so faintly that they are barely perceptible in the darkness, yet made perceptible where the light touches them. This is because such waves are neither visible to the eye nor easily perceived—they are simply something one may suddenly become aware of at a certain moment. The atmosphere of the works was deliberately made so dark that viewers might even feel the urge to turn their screen brightness to the maximum.

This is why I decided to remove the original inscriptions of these two works and re-create them in smaller sizes that meet the conditions for a more reasonable inscription cost and avoid compression loss—while still ensuring that such details could be faithfully inscribed and presented again.

Black Swan – The Awakening과 The Black Cat – Aletheia 두 작품에서 희미한 선들은 중요한 의미를 지니고 있습니다. 이 선들은 일종의 파동을 의미합니다. 이는 단순히 작품의 메시지가 파동처럼 퍼져나간다는 뜻만이 아니라, 우리가 생각하고 말하고 행동하는 모든 것이 보이지 않는 파동으로 타인에게 전달되고 다시 나 자신에게 되돌아온다는 것을 의미합니다. 이러한 이유로, 이 파동을 나타내는 섬세한 선들은 어둠 속에서는 거의 인식되지 않을 정도로 표현되었고, 빛이 닿는 부위에서는 어느 정도 자각할 수 있도록 표현되었습니다. 왜냐하면 그러한 파동은 눈에 보이는 것도 아니고 쉽게 자각할 수 있는 것도 아니기 때문입니다. 다만 어느 시점에 문득 느끼게 될 뿐이니까요. 작품의 분위기는 의도적으로 매우 어둡게 만들어져, 보는 사람이 화면 밝기를 최대치로 올리고 싶은 충동을 느낄 정도입니다.

이것이 제가 기존 두 작품의 인스크립션을 내리고, 더 합리적인 인스크립션 비용 조건과 압축 손실이 없는 조건에 맞추어 보다 작은 크기로 다시 제작한 이유입니다. 그렇게 함으로써 이러한 디테일이 온전히 인스크립트되어 다시 선보일 수 있도록 하였습니다.
