Description
On-demand was the first product my co-founders and I built at Sixty.
How it started was first at my web agency beforehand. We got dozens of leads each month from do-it-yourself (DIY) website builder users needing help. Freelancer web designers wouldn't want to take these leads, because there wasn't much money in them, so there was an abundance in the market.
We learned that if we charged a $150/hr rate and worked together with the client via video conference, the leads suddenly became attractive to other freelancers. It was obvious that DIY software was becoming more prolific, so we set out to build a startup around on demand web app help.
My Involvement
- Prototyped using Squarespace, Acuity Scheduling, Zapier, and GSheets.
- Migrated to Bubble.
- Recruited cofounder to lead operations.
- Recruited two technical cofounders to rebuild and scale product.
- Raised capital from Y Combinator.
Traction
- Scaled revenue 50% MoM for eight months to $200k/yr run rate on prototype stack. All serving Squarespace web design market.
- 5500+ on demand sessions.
- 3000+ client users including Creative Artists Agency, Stanford University, Hinge, and CitiBike
- 50+ on demand freelancers
- 72 apps supported at peak: from Wordpress to Segment to Google Sheets.
- Pivoted away from on demand in Jan ‘18 to focus on building LinkedIn for Freelancers.
