Introduction

To succeed in a 21st-century digital workforce, you must build 🏗️, ship 🚢, and share 🚀!

Maybe you’re looking to land your next job, move up in your current organization, build your own startup, or just build your personal brand online to attract future opportunities.

In any of these cases (as we’ve seen many examples at AI Makerspace), we must go beyond our role as builders.

We have to share.

We have to sell … something, even if it’s just ourselves. Even if it’s just that we’re worth a follow or a job offer.

Sharing is Caring

Sharing can be broken down into two categories:

  1. Sharing with people already in your network and connected to it
  2. Sharing with people outside of your network to bring them into it

Tactically, it’s useful to think of these two methods of sharing corresponding to:

  1. Inbound Marketing
  2. Outbound Sales

We want to work our way into being able to do both, consistently, throughout our careers to keep the opportunities coming in.

Marketing and Sales

That’s right, the bane of our existence as builders and engineers: marketing and sales.

But the fact is that you need to sell yourself.

But how, exactly?
