From Arcadia to now, my logo and name has went through some big transformations, but in the end I finally decided with MY MRI and the logo shown below. At this stage, there is always a chance of the brand of change at some stage, but nevertheless, I am finally happy with the this design.
From the previous page, I took the idea of an outer image of an MRI machine and using it with a VR headset to make a logo. As I said, if I could, I wanted to have an icon of a user lying down within the machine to explain to the user that the logo is a combination of a headset and an actual MRI scanner.
See the image above to get an idea.
At this stage, it was now time to move to digital and create the actual logo.
This was the design I finalised on. I created this on Adobe Illustrator, as opposed to Figma or photoshop, as it was always a great tool for me to create icons and I had the opportunity to alter the quality and size of the image. It was fairly easy to create, as it is literally shapes and circles, as you can see. I ended up adding the extra white circle on the right side of the logo to keep with the consistency of the design. It can be there to represent the two possible areas a patient will be placed for their scan. The left side for the head and body scan and the right side for legs and feet.
I refrained from using any real bright colours, or primary colours and stuck to neutral colours because I didn’t want it affecting the users eyes by being too bright. I researched what colours to use in VR and mainly found that neutral colours is the best option, especially if its for an app to provide the user with information and reassure them for real life experiences. As well as this, I have to be mindful of any background images that will be used. If I have a brightly coloured logo on top of a brightly lit background, this will definitely have a negative effect on the user.
In conclusion, I am happy with this design and I look forward to using it within my project. At this current stage, there may be some edits to the logo in the future. With user testing and advice from my lecturers and peers, it will determine whether I should add colour to the logo or any other changes that it may need. But as of now, I am happy to include it in my prototype and I am glad I eventually found a logo that is relevant to my brand.
