All of these characters can be found at Nao’s office building and in the A.K. Agricultural Exchange office.

• Hideo Sugiura – Mid-50s, proofreader. Gray hair combed back. Wears moss-green sweater vests over button-downs. Brown-tinted glasses with thick lenses. Has a limp, uses a cane on rainy days.
• Aya Kahale – Mid-40s project coordinator. Short, tightly wound bun, small silver hoop earrings. Sharp charcoal pencil skirts, minimalist flats. Wears a wristwatch and checks it often. Permanent frown lines. Sharp jaw.
• Yasuki “Yaz” Minnow – Mid 20s. Junior staff, fresh out of university. Messy hair dyed brown with dark roots showing. Always wears wrinkled button-ups with too-short ties in fun patterns. Walks fast and talks fast. Frayed satchel.
• Niko Eaia – Mid-30s, typesetter. Close-cropped haircut with a gentle wave. Dresses in layered earth tones. Wears one long earring on the left side. Has a soft, steady presence. Fingers are ink-stained from typesetting.
• Jules Toama – Late 20s, layout artist. Lean and tired-looking. Longish hair swept to one side, pale skin, and deep undereye circles. Always wears hoodies or oversized jackets. Has wired earbuds in.
• Lina Asakura – 50s. Editor of pamphlet series. Always wears muted cardigans, tortoiseshell reading glasses on a chain. Knitting needles stick out of her bag. Has a regal posture and purses her lips a lot. Never swears.
• Ken Ayabe – 30s, average height, always in tucked-in button-downs. Office assistant. Carries a messenger bag filled with stationery. Wireframe glasses, neat side-parted hair. Shuffles when walking. May or may not be writing a novel

8. Section Chief: Thales Kasuga

Role: Communications Section Chief (Boss)

Age: Late 60s

Appearance: Thinning silver hair, always in beige short-sleeve button-ups and a patterned tie from decades ago. Slight paunch. Wears indoor-only brown slippers.

Other: Rarely seen outside his office except during fire drills. Keeps a desk fan even in winter. Chain smokes outside and pretends not to hear complaints.

9. Assistant Manager: Mireille Shiba

Role: Coordinator of Staff & Scheduling

Age: Early 30s

Appearance: Wears calf-length pleated skirts, modest knits, and always a pastel cardigan. Hair in a neat low bun with a flower-patterned clip. Keeps a shoulder bag full of color-coded folders and snacks.

Other: Genuinely polite. Runs the office in practice, but never acknowledged for it. One of the few who can speak to Kasuga without being ignored.
