I’m still curating and narrowing in on my concept but I know I’m passionate about ways to redefine artistic mediums on the web and certain technologies, such as AI, provide opportunities to tap into this exploration. I’ve been thinking about this question in particular to deepen my understanding of the space as a whole: How can we apply AI to creative and interactive outlets? I do not find one answer to this question as it depends on the individual and how they see AI fitting into their creativity. Some people may view AI as a tool that can be used to enhance or augment their creativity, while others may see AI as a replacement for human creativity altogether.  For example, AI can be used to generate new ideas, help with the creative process, or even create entire pieces of art on their own.

There are a number of websites that offer interactive art experiences powered by artificial intelligence, many of which I’m still researching. Some websites use data from the real world to create unique and interesting artworks. One such artwork is called “Infinite Harbarium”. This artwork “invites participants to explore an infinite number of machine learning-generated plants as well as create their own specimens, while learning more about the plants in their own backyard.”  The work was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, as part of The National, 2021, as well as at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

In a future powered by AI, art experiences will be more interactive and personalized than ever before. By feeding AI with real-world data, we can create art experiences that are truly unique to each individual. For example, imagine walking into a gallery and having a painting come to life. The painting would be able to change and adapt based on your emotions, reactions and movements, creating a completely personalized experience. Alternatively, imagine visiting an art installation that responds to your presence. The installation could change and evolve the more you interact with it, creating a unique experience that is tailored specifically to you. I aim to fully understand what it takes to create truly immersive and personalized art experiences by leveraging such technologies.
