The Oakland Pump Track is Oakland's first and only dirt pump track located in Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park.

What is a pump track?

A pump track is a continuous circuit of banked turns interspaced by rollers and other features that can be ridden on a bike without pedaling. Most commonly constructed from soil, riders create momentum via up and down body moments called pumping. Because the features are all variations of rollable mounds, courses are beginner-friendly, with riders of all ages and skill levels able to safely navigate the course. As riders advance and acquire bike control, they are able to generate and maintain increased momentum, flow through the track at higher speeds and eventually learn to connect features by utilizing advanced techniques such as manualing and jumping.

The track is most commonly ridden counterclockwise but can be ridden in any direction as long as the riders on the track ride in the same direction as you! Mix it up, try the S curve, or ride one of the inside lines, whatever keeps the flow going!

Where is it?

Parking suggestion: Park along the north side of Skyline Blvd to avoid parking tickets. Look for the no parking signs along the south side of the road. If parking is full, you can park just down the hill near Redwood Regional Park and take the Graham Connector trail to the pump track.

The Rules

  1. BIKES ONLY! No dogs, scooters, skateboards, motorized vehicles, or RC cars.
  2. Have fun!
  3. Treat others with respect
  4. Max of 4 riders on the track at once
  5. Do not ride on top of berms
  6. NO RIDING IN THE WET!
  7. Do not add to or modify the track
  8. Pedestrians must stay off trails and features, except where permitted. Stay visible.

Riding here is a hazardous recreational activity; per California Government Code 831.7. Children 8 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Helmets required. No exceptions.
