Setting up OBS

1. Click Start and start typing OBS to search for it. Click to open it.

2. This is the screen you will see once the software is open. The black box is the preview window - it lets you view what you will be recording once everything is set up.

   

3. To start recording your computer screen, you would need to select a source first. Click the '+' at the bottom of the sources section.

   

4. As shown below, select 'Display Capture' from the list. This allows it to record your screen and your audio using your computer's mic.

   

5. You can change the name of source device. Hit OK after that.

   

6. It is important to change the output video format to ensure compatibility with other tools. Therefore, we go to File → Settings → Output and according to the screen below, change the Recording Format to MP4.

   

How to start recording

1. You are now set to start recording your computer. It will automatically record the audio via the mic on your device. To start recording, click the button on bottom right as shown below -

   

2. To confirm recording has started, a tiny red dot will appear at the bottom as shown. Once you are done with the recording, click the Stop Recording button to save the video.

   

Saving the video

1. The video will be saved to the Videos folder. To view where your video was saved or to change where it is saved in the computer, go to File → Settings → Output as shown below and then set it up according to your preferences.
