The research team at Notion Labs, Inc. (“Notion,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) regularly conducts user research to gather feedback about our products and services. If you elect to participate in any Notion Research Program (each a “Research Program,” and collectively, “Research Programs”), then you (“Participant,” or “you”) agree to the following Notion Research Participation Terms (”Research Terms”). These Research Terms incorporate the most up-to-date version of all documentation and any other policies that apply to tools and features made available to you under the Research Program ("Program Documentation") and any additional terms that govern a Research Program (”Addendum”).

General Requirements

Acceptance into a Research Program is at the sole discretion of Notion.

Age Restriction. You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to participate in a Research Program. By participating, you represent and warrant that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Program Compliance Requirements. You must comply with these Research Terms and Program Documentation to participate in a Research Program. If you violate these Research Terms or Program Documentation, then we reserve the right to cease payment of any compensation otherwise due to you under these Research Terms.

Research Information

Registration Information. During the sign-up process for a Research Program, you may be asked to provide certain information, including but not limited to, your name, email address, employment information, and other demographic information (”Registration Information”). Notion will use and handle any Registration Information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Research Results. By participating in a Research Program, you understand that you may be involved in oral interviews (either in person or via a telephone or videoconference) and that such interview may be recorded. You agree that Notion may use the audio and video recording(s) of any oral interviews, your answers to any questions, and any oral or written responses you provide (”Research Results”) for the purposes of our research and product development, subject to these Research Terms. You acknowledge and agree that any contribution to Research Results does not and will not give you any right, title, or interest in Notion’s products or in the Research Results. You grant to Notion any and all right, title, and interest that you may have in and to the Research Results. The Research Results will be Notion’s sole and exclusive property, and Notion may use and disclose Research Results in any manner and for any purpose whatsoever without further notice or compensation to you and without retention by you of any proprietary or other right or claim. Notwithstanding the above, Notion will not use your name or image in connection with the publication of any research results without your explicit written consent.

Research Sandbox, Slack Workspace, and Beta Services. You may be asked to join a Notion sandbox workspace, a private Slack workspace, or use other tools as part of your participation in a Research Program (”Research Tools”). You agree not to provide your password or login information to any Research Tools to anyone else. By participating in a Research Program, you also consent to allowing Notion to enable Beta Services (as defined in Notion’s Terms of Service) to be turned on in your personal Notion Workspace. You further understand that the Beta Services, Research Tools, and any information you access in the Research Tools are Confidential Information to Notion.

Confidentiality

You understand that by participating in a Research Program, you may receive or have access to features, designs, interfaces, concepts, products, roadmap, and other materials which are the proprietary and confidential information of Notion (”Confidential Information”). Confidential Information also includes materials provided to you during the Research Program, surveys, questionnaires, content, documentation, Research Tools, Beta Services, and any information that is identified as being confidential or that would reasonably be understood to be confidential. You agree to hold all Confidential Information in strict confidence. You will only use Confidential Information in relation to the Research Program. You will not disclose or make Confidential Information available to any third-party, except as specifically authorized by us in writing. This confidentiality obligation shall survive the expiration or cancellation of your participation and continue for so long as the Confidential Information remains confidential.

Cancellation / Termination

You may cancel your participation in any Research Program at any time by emailing us at research@makenotion.com. Notion may terminate your participation in any Program at any time and for any reason, at its sole discretion. In the event of cancellation or termination, Notion reserves the right to withhold any compensation, if applicable.

Disclaimer and Liability

Notion makes no warranties in respect of any aspect of the Notion Research Program and disclaims all implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, timeliness, and merchantability. Except matters for which liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, Notion shall not be liable to you in any respect, including without limitation, for any damages (including without limitation any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential costs, damages, or losses) arising directly or indirectly from these Terms or from your participation in any Research Program.

You understand and agree that your participation in any particular Research Program is solely for providing Notion with feedback on Notion products and services and that your participation or findings may not be used for any other purpose, including but not limited to claims arising from your participation in any Programs.

General

Independent Contractor. You are an independent contractor and not an agent or employee of Notion. You agree that you will not be entitled to any compensation, options, stock or other rights or benefits accorded to our employees.

Governing Law. These Terms and related disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflicts of laws principles.

Waiver of Jury Trial. You and Notion agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located within the city and county of San Francisco, CA. Each party also hereby waives any right to jury trial in connection with any action or litigation in any way arising out of or related to these Terms.
