Below is a list of notifiable diseases in the UK. The 'Proper Officer' at the Local Health Protection Team needs to be notified. They in turn will notify the Health Protection Agency on a weekly basis.

Notable exceptions include:

• HIV

In April 2010 the following diseases were removed from the list:

• Dysentery
• Ophthalmia neonatorum
• Leptospirosis
• Relapsing fever

Therefore, the current notifiable diseases are:

• Acute encephalitis
• Acute infectious hepatitis
• Acute meningitis
• Acute poliomyelitis
• Anthrax
• Botulism
• Brucellosis
• Cholera
• COVID-19
• Diphtheria
• Enteric fever (typhoid or paratyphoid fever)
