I tried to answer the questions I often receive regarding Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship awarded by the University of Toronto. Please note that these are my personal views. If you have any further question, reach me at [email protected] with the subject "Question regarding Lester Pearson Scholarship". Also, email the scholarship committee and university admission committee for the most accurate answers
Application Process
- Scholarship application and university application are separate processes
- I don't think the scholarship committee sees/ checks your university application, which is checked by admission committee, except for the grades
- YES, you need to complete both the application in time
- I applied for the scholarship after I graduated from school
- Ideal time to apply is when you are in 12th grade
- You cannot apply if you have more than one gap year - meaning the latest you can apply is the year you graduate from school
TOEFL vs IELTS
- Choose the one you find easier/ comfortable
- Your score is only required for admission to the university
- Your score is not considered in making the scholarship decision
SAT/ ACT
- Canadian universities do not require SAT/ ACT score
- If you took SAT/ ACT and you are confident with your score, do send it to along your university application
Extracurricular Activities
- I talked about my ECA in the scholarship essays
- My ECA included: national/ international prizes, being a prefect and initiatives I took in my school and outside
Nomination/ Recommendation Letter
- Principal or guidance counselor? The one who knows you best
